Mp | Zimbra

Zimbra is a multi-process system. The core services—LDAP, MySQL, mailbox (Java), etc.—run as separate processes. Because of this architecture, Zimbra will automatically take advantage of multiple processors (or cores) by distributing these independent processes across the available CPUs. This means you generally don't need to tweak your virtual machine configuration extensively; Zimbra is designed to scale across multiple cores from the start.

As mentioned, for large-scale deployments, a multi-server architecture is the gold standard. This is sometimes referred to as "MP" (Multi-Processor) or "clustering" in older documentation. A multi-server setup distributes the core LDAP, MTA, and Mailbox services across separate dedicated servers or virtual machines. Zimbra is a multi-process system

Why go through the complexity of a multi-server setup? The benefits are substantial. This means you generally don't need to tweak
